Cancer Treatment
[Immunotherapy]

Try as you might, when you hear the word "malignant," it's hard to focus on anything but what it may mean. What are your treatment options? What will work? How will having cancer affect your quality of life? These same considerations and more go into the care we provide for patients who come to the Roger Williams Cancer Center.

First, most cancers require more than one form of treatment to effectively fight the disease. This can mean seeing as many as four different cancer specialists, including medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and immunotherapists. When you become one of our patients, you become the center of a multi-disciplined cancer care team that develops, coordinates and monitors all aspects of your treatment plan.

Secondly, cancer takes more than just a physical toll. Maintaining a positive state of mind and strong personal relationships are as much a part of treating cancer as medical, radiation, and surgical regimens. Cancer support groups, medical library resources, social work and mental health services are also part of our care program.

Just knowing you can access a broad range of cancer care in one place -- from one group of people you can begin to know and trust -- offers great peace of mind. Our goal is simple: With the utmost understanding, compassion and respect, employ the fullest extent of resources available in the state to help you survive cancer.

If you can't prevent cancer, the next best thing you can do to protect your health is to detect it early. Recognizing symptoms, getting regular check-ups, and performing self-exams are just a few ways you can do this.
