Title: “Update on Clostridium difficile”
Speaker:Cheleste M. Thorpe, MD, Division of Geographic Medicine & Infectious Diseases, Tufts Medical. Assistant Professor of Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine
Objectives: At the conclusion of this lecture, participants will be able to:
- Review the typical features, risk factors, and clinical course of Clostridium difficile infection.
- Recognize C. difficile is increasing in frequency, with increased associated morbidity and mortality.
- Understand that both host factors and microbial factors may play a role in recent changes in C. difficile frequency and severity.
- Understand the state of our knowledge concerning C. difficile treatment and appreciate the types of new agents that are being developed for treatment.
