Title: “Update on Clostridium difficile”
Speaker:Cheleste M. Thorpe, MD, Division of Geographic Medicine & Infectious Diseases, Tufts Medical. Assistant Professor of Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine

Objectives: At the conclusion of this lecture, participants will be able to:

Review the typical features, risk factors, and clinical course of Clostridium difficile infection.
Recognize C. difficile is increasing in frequency, with increased associated morbidity and mortality.
Understand that both host factors and microbial factors may play a role in recent changes in C. difficile frequency and severity.
Understand the state of our knowledge concerning C. difficile treatment and appreciate the types of new agents that are being developed for treatment.
