Message from the President
Roger Williams Medical Center is here for one reason: to help create a healthier tomorrow for the community we serve. We work hard to meet that goal, through direct patient care with a personal touch, innovative research, and health programs designed to educate the public.
Every day, people entrust their health to our physicians, nurses, and staff. It is a relationship that we hold sacred.
Roger Williams is an academic medical center, affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine. The teaching at Roger Williams isn't limited to the residents and fellows who are trained here; on a daily basis, we strive to know more about the causes and treatments for a variety of illnesses.
On October 28, 2009, CharterCARE Health Partners, the corporate parent of Roger Williams Medical Center and St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island, received approval of its affiliation proposal by Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch. This approval followed a concurrent review and approval by the Rhode Island Department of Health. The formation of CharterCARE will help us realize our vision of providing continued access to high quality health care to the community we serve.
It is an exciting time at the Medical Center. Under the direction of Dr. Vincent Falanga, Roger Williams recently received a $12 million COBRE grant to further the study of wound healing; major renovations to our cancer center were recently completed; and first-in-the-nation surgeries are happening in our operating rooms with increasing frequency.
While these developments are important, it is the quiet moments -- the patients who get a helping hand from a CNA, the families that receive optimistic news from a physician, the small medical breakthroughs that could change the way we live and heal – that are most fulfilling.
Thank you for visiting with us. At Roger Williams, we are working hard so that you and your loved ones get the health care you deserve. Your good health is our top priority.
