Roger Williams recognized as “Star Performer” by American Orthopaedic Association’s fracture program
Roger Williams Medical Center has been recognized as a “Star Performer” by the “Own The Bone” program, a national post-fracture, systems-based fragility fracture initiative created by the American Orthopaedic Association. “Star Performer” institutions are recognized for at least 75% compliance on 5 of the 10 recommended measures over the last year. Roger Williams is the only hospital in Rhode Island to hold the “Own The Bone’ designation, which it initially received in 2013. At its core, “Own The Bone” hospitals give patients the necessary tools to combat future fragility fractures. An estimated 9 million American adults have osteoperosis but most go undiagnosed and untreated. Up to 50% of women and 25% of men will sustain fragility fractures in their lifetime.
