Francis J. Cummings, MD
Director of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship

Francis J Cummings, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine; Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine, Brown Medical School. He is a medical graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine and went on to do his Residency in Internal Medicine at Presbyterian-University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Dr. Cummings completed his fellowship training in Medical Oncology and Clinical Pharmacology at Brown University. His clinical specializations include Breast Cancer Therapy, Chemotherapy and Biologic Therapy. He has does extensive research in Breast Cancer and Multiple Myleoma. Dr. Cummings is an active part of the teaching faculty at Roger Williams Medical Center and conducts numerous noon-conferences and attending rounds throughout the year. Dr. Frank Cummings was PI on a randomized study evaluating three treatment regimens for patients with untreated multiple myeloma who were not transplantation candidates.

Alan Weitberg, MD
Chief of Medicine, Director Internal Medicing Residency Training Program

Alan Weitberg, MD is the Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Director of the Residency Program in Internal Medicine, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at Boston University School of Medicine, Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and Hematology/Oncology Attending at Roger Williams Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine Program in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Weitberg attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, completed his Internal Medicine Training at Roger Williams Medical Center/Brown University School of Medicine Program and then went on to complete his Fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology at Mass General-Harvard Medical School. He remained on staff as well as a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical Schol before joining the staff at Roger Williams Medical Center in 1985. He has published many articles and written and edited numerous titles including "Cancer of the Lung". Dr. Weitberg continues to be active in research and is a staunch advocate of research amoung our House Staff. Dr. Weitberg has been a Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine since 1998 and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Roger Williams Medical Center since 1992. Recently Dr. Weitberg has been chosen as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. Castle Connolly is the nation's leader in identifying Top Doctors and is based on input from other physicians around the country. Castle Connolly listings are well-respected as demonstrated by their recognition in The New York Times, USA Today, The Today Show, 20/20 and over 100 other television and radio stations.

Ahmad Samer Al-Homsi, MD
Chief, Hematological Malignancies & Blood & Marrow Transplantation Program

Dr. Al-Homsi leads an interdisciplinary team to provide patients and families with pre- and post-transplantation information, preparation,
support and care.

Dr. Al-Homsi is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the Amercian Board of IM-Medical Oncology, and the American Board of IM- Hematology. Dr. Al-Homsi received his post-doctoral training at the University of Tours, Tours, France, and University of Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France. He was fellowship trained in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Illinois.

Bharti Rathore, MD
Attending Physician, Division of Hematology/Oncology

Dr. Bharti Rathore is faculty member in the Hematology/Oncology Division at Roger Williams Medical Center and holds the rank of Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Rathore graduated from J.N. Medical College of Ravishankar University, Raipur, India. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Brown Medical School & Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Pawtucket, RI. She subsequently completed her Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Brown Medical School, Providence, RI. Dr. Rathore is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology. Her clinical and research interests are focused on Breast cancer, Gastro-Intestinal cancers, and Cancer Immunotherapy. She is the clinical lead for Breast Cancer clinical research at Roger Williams Medical Center and is active in the institutional cancer immunotherapy research program.

Ritesh Rathore, MD
Director, Division of Hematology/Oncology
Director, Cancer Protocol Office

Dr. Ritesh Rathore leads the clinical, research, and academic activities of the Hematology/Oncology Division at Roger Williams Medical Medical Center. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Rathore graduated from the University College of Medical Sciences of Delhi University, India. He completed his training Internal Medicine Residency at Maimonides Medical Center & SUNY Brooklyn, New York. Following this he completed his Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Brown Medical School, Providence, RI. Dr. Rathore is board certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Rathore's clinical and research interests are focused on Head/Neck & Thoracic cancers as well as Gastro-Intestinal cancers. He also is the clinical lead for Cancer Immunotherapy Research at Roger Williams Medical Center. Dr. Rathore has published original research on head/neck cancers and gastrointestinal cancers. As Director of the Cancer Protocol Office, he is coordinator of all institutional clinical research activities include participation in clinical trials through the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), Brown University Oncology Group (BrUOG), and the Clinical trials Support Unit (CTSU) of the National Cancer Institute .
