The Sleep Disorders Center is a service of the Roger Williams Medical Center Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine under the direction of Rakesh M. Gupta, M.D. Dr. Gupta is board certified in Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine. A team of skilled sleep technologists, dentists, ear, nose and throat specialists, psychologists, and psychiatrists staffs the Center. They provide:
- The latest technology for treating excessive snoring and sleep apnea.
- Counseling by and referral to highly regarded Roger Williams Medical Center physicians who specialize in treating other related problems that affect sleep
At the Sleep Disorders Center, patients undergo a thorough medical and sleep evaluation. When indicated, patients may spend a night in the sleep lab, a special facility where sleep can be closely monitored. The sleep lab features a pleasant setting very much like a comfortable hotel room. It’s equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools designed to measure various aspects of sleep, including such functions as brain wave activity, muscle movements, heart rate, and breathing.
