Services (401) 456-2650
Monday-Friday, 6:00am-7:30pm
Nursing coverage until 9:00 P.M. or until the last patient is either discharged to home or admitted.

The ASU provides surgical services (not requiring hospitalization) to patients aged 13 and older. Staff are trained to provide physical, emotional, and psychosocial support, as well as monitor pain levels and determine the patient's capacity to follow discharge instructions safely and effectively.

The length of stay (LOS) depends on the patient's ability to meet the discharge criteria listed on postoperative nursing documents. The LOS may be longer for patients who are admitted to the hospital and awaiting bed availability.

Physical Description

The unit houses nine patient stations, a room designated for minor procedures, an area for instructing patients with crutches, and a separate room where nurses may perform patient assessments during pre-admission testing. The unit is also equipped with three
rest rooms and a changing area for patients.
