Thank you for choosing Roger Williams Medical Center for your upcoming surgery. The following information will help guide you through your hospital experience from pre-surgical evaluation through admission, recovery, and discharge. We look forward to providing you with the best possible care.
Preadmission Testing and Surgical Evaluation
A registered nurse and a physician's assistant will complete a pre-anesthesia assessment, followed by any lab work or other tests that are necessary such as an EKG or chest X-ray. You may also see an anesthesiologist at this time if warranted.
Please bring a list of the medications you take including any herbal remedies and over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or vitamins. Also bring your current health insurance card and photo ID with you. If you have an advance directive and/or a Living Will, bring these with you as well. You should also inform the nurse if you have been recently ill or hospitalized.
We'll share your patient care information and any test results with your surgeon, anesthesiologist, and primary and consulting physicians. We'll also prepare all the necessary paperwork to complete your chart for the morning of surgery.
