A couple golfing17th Annual Golf Classic happening on June 21

Interested in a great day of golf for a great cause? Then join us at the Rhode Island Country Club on June 21, 2010 for the 17th Annual Golf Classic. The tournament takes place just five days before the CVS Charity Classic so the course is guaranteed to be in great shape! By participating in this tournament, you will be supporting the Cancer Center at Roger Williams Medical Center, the only place in Rhode Island that provides a full range of cancer treatment, including blood and marrow transplants. Since the tournament's inception, more then $1 million dollars has been raised to benefit cancer patients through improved research, treatment, and facilities.

 “Lift Your Spirits!” raises over $21,000 for Elmhurst Extended Care

If you weren't part of this September wine tasting, you missed one of the most interesting nights of the year! Over 125 people attended "Lift Your Sprits" at the Federal Reserve, an event that raised over $21,000 to benefit the elders of Elmhurst. The evening included world music by The Gnomes, a mixology lesson from proprietor Bob Burke, a silent auction, and words of wisdom written by Elmhurst elders and distributed by the living trees from Ten31 Productions. "Lift Your Spirits!" was chaired by Dr. Greg Allen, Elmhurst's medical director. Elmhurst is Rhode Island's only home to embrace a unique philosophy of care known as the Eden Alternative, where elders are given freedom of choice while surrounded by vibrant reminders of life. Golf tourney nets over $75,000 for Cancer Center

On June 29, Rhode Island Country Club was once again the setting for Roger Williams Medical Center's annual Golf Classic, sponsored by PANNONE, LOPES, DEVEREAUX & WEST, LLC. The event was a success, raising over $75,000 for the Cancer Center at Roger Williams. The tournament was Board Development Chairman Charles Maynard. A full slate of golfers played the beautiful course, which is also home to the CVS Charity Classic. The event also included lunch, dinner, raffles, and a silent and live auction that raised close to $8,000. "On behalf of the Board and the golf committee members who worked for months to organize this tournament, I want to thank the community for supporting our cancer center," said Kenneth H. Belcher, President & CEO. "The tournament was a great day for a great cause and we appreciate all the golfers, donors and volunteers who made it such a special event."
